Job Title: Chief Engineer
Summary ;
Leads projects and develops Electro-Mechanical and Electronic products for Vehicle systems solutions, by performing the following duties.
Responsibility :
Reports to the Director, R&D. Leads and supervises projects and personnel while working in close consultation with the Commercial team. Expert in Mechatronic engineering with a focus on Electro-mechanical discipline. Develops, validates and launches new electronic and electromechanical product and systems to support new business opportunities. Takes part in establishing specifications proposals for new products and services, and provides cost analysis for developing quotes. Drives approved projects with emphasis on meeting Customer requirements, and project budget and financial commitments in cooperation with other company functional organizations. Follows NPI process requirements. As an expert in the field, resolves questions related to applications and supports development and validation of various products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Analyzes and interpret the customer requirements to determine feasibility of product proposal.
Designs / validates / launches variations of system and electro-mechanical products to support new sales opportunities.
Designs / develops key parts for electronics drive train systems, including motors, gear drives and electronic products operating in harsh environments.
Supervises staff and projects in order to support requests from customers and Commercial department, while ensuring that delivery schedule, budget and customer requirements are met, in accordance with the New Product Development and Technical Change Process.
Coordinate Engineering development and sustaining activities with Program Management and other function organizations as necessary to ensure all Engineering responsibilities are properly executed through product launch and meet Customer expectations and Business goals.
Writes the specifications request.
Confers with research personnel to clarify or resolve problems and develops design.
Carry out calculations necessary to the validation of the functions
Prepares or directs preparation of system layout.
Direct detailed drawings, schematics and PCB layout.
Directs and coordinates manufacturing of prototype product or system.
Plans and develops experimental test programs.
Analyzes test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
Confers with research and other engineering personnel to prepare design modifications as required.
Evaluates engineering test results.
Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to formulate and test designs.
Writes documentation and to provide information necessary for documentation system.
Follow up the processes of development and documentation in force to center R&D;
Help and/or to compiles the related documents necessary to the project.
In collaboration
Works with members of production team to ensure solid implementation of various chosen solutions.
Takes part in meetings with customers and internal project meetings.
Keeps abreast of colleagues’ tasks which may impact deadlines.
Informs colleagues of progress of own tasks which may impact their deadlines.
Takes part in carrying out and sometimes carries out qualification and validation tests in the plant.
Takes part in the outlining of assembly methods. To take part in the selection of the suppliers in collaboration with the department of the purchases
Qualifications:
Bilingualism is a very strong asset - English and French (spoken and written), due to the nature of the position (direct contact with local and international customers / Sales and Manufacturing departments)•

Education:
Bachelor's degree Mechatronic engineering, or related fields of study in Mechanics, Electronics and Software
A minimum of 5 years' experience in project management

Environnement:
Work in office and laboratory environment.
Possibility to work on equipment or machines on production floor
